Oceanside Theatre Company kicks off its 2018 Music Series with two American blues treasures: The Rick Holmstrom Band and Nathan James and The Rhythm Scratchers. Holmstrom is a premier blues guitarist having worked with such musical legends as William Clarke, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, R.L. Burnside, Johnny Dyer and Rod Piazza. Holmstrom is currently the bandleader for the great Mavis Staples and can be heard on her Grammy-winning album “You Are Not Alone.” Internationally acclaimed blues guitarist and Oceanside resident Nathan James has a musical identity all his own with his handcrafted washboard guitar and mastery of the Piedmont fingerstyle. James and his trio, The Rhythm Scratchers, forge a distinct sound that ranges from acoustic blues of the ‘20s and ‘30s to soulful R&B.
