OTCYA Summer Camp

NOTICE: Due to the COVID-19 health emergency
the 2020 Summer Youth Camp has been CANCELED

We regret that OTC will not be able to provide community youth with our summer theatre camp in 2020,
but we will return in 2021.  Here’s what your child can expect:

Learn or Improve ACTING & TECHNICAL THEATER skills!

Children ages 8-17 are invited to attend OTCYA’s Summer Camp, culminating in a full production of a youth version of a Broadway Play.  Past shows have included The Little Mermaid, Jr., The Wizard of Oz, Honk, Jr., Once On This Island, and more!

Children may participate in one of the following camps:

This Camp focuses on singing, acting, and dancing in preparation for performing on the Brooks Theater Main Stage in a youth production of Beauty & the Beast, Jr.  The Performers camp runs for four weeks, Monday through Friday, from 9 am till 3 pm.

Designer Camp is offered from 9 am – 11:45 am during the 3rd week of camp to explore set design, costume design, makeup design, and lighting design. Designers then join the Technical Theater Camp from 12:15 – 2:45 pm to learn about technical aspects of theater. During the final week of camp, designers assist backstage with costumes, quick changes, makeup, and any technical needs.

Technical Theater Camp focuses on the technical elements for the production and includes some hands-on experience in running lighting or sound boards, handling spotlight equipment, and working as backstage crew. The Technical Theater Camp runs the last two weeks of camp, from 9 am to 3 pm. If interested in the Designer or Technical Theater Camps, email aduchi@oceansidetheatre.org or sduchi@oceansidetheatre.org to request a Designer or Technical Theater application form.
