Next, glide on over to Oceanside Theatre Company at the historic Brooks Theater for the highly acclaimed performance of Billie! Backstage with Lady Day. Part biopic, part concert, the play entwines storytelling and song to unveil the tumultuous life of the unforgettable Billie Holiday. Accompanied by Piano Man played by jazz all-star Lanny Hartley, Hardy as Holliday addresses the audience as if they were unseen interviewers and candidly speaks of her upbringing, her parents, racism and relationships all while sliding in and out of her popular hits as she prepares for a concert. In the second act, a full jazz band featuring saxophonist Dr. Marcus Wilcher backs Hardy as she embodies the jazz icon and performs her most memorable music.
