Musical Visionary David Arkenstone and an All-Female String Quartet to Perform Magical Candlelit Concert at The Brooks

(Oceanside, CA) –  As part of its Music Series, Oceanside Theatre Company will host musical storyteller, contemporary composer, and instrumentalist David Arkenstone and friends for a candlelit concert at the historic Brooks Theater in downtown Oceanside on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. He’ll be accompanied by a percussionist and an all-female string quartet. Available online at OceansideTheatre.org or by calling the box office at 760-433-8900, tickets are $25 general admission, $20 for students, seniors, and active military with ID, and $45 for VIP seating in first two rows which includes a lanyard and laminate, a free CD, and a signed photograph.

“I’m thrilled to be touring again! I love playing live, interacting with the audience and meeting the fans!” said Arkenstone. “It’s our first time on the road since the pandemic and I’m excited to debut some of my new music and play a few favorites.”

Debuting selections from his newest album, “Music Inspired by Middle Earth: Vol. 2,” which was released in June 2022, this magical performance by five-time Grammy nominee, Arkenstone, will include distinctive tracks that evoke every emotion and inspire the imagination. A follow up to the first volume released 20 years ago, the new album is also inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series.

“I treated the album as if I was composing the movie in my head I wanted to score,” Arkenstone said on his Bandcamp album website. “There have been significant advancements in musical tools for the modern composer, so I was eager to explore orchestrating and performing the majority of the recording on my own. That – plus the notion that, hopefully, my skills have improved over the years – led me here.”

Much of the musician-composer’s music is inspired by fantasy worlds. In 2019, Arkenstone received a Grammy nomination for Best New Age Album for his album Fairy Dreams, a collection of acoustic melodies woven into an extraordinary symphonic musical tapestry. “I envision a place where I would like to go, or an adventure I would like to take, and let my imagination run free. I’ve gotten countless messages from listeners who love to take these journeys with me. I’m sometimes surprised by how powerfully people respond to my music,” said Arkenstone.

This intimate concert at the Brooks Theater will also include chart topping favorites from among his 60 albums and compositions, as well as his numerous themes and scores for NBC, film, and games like World of Warcraft. Arkenstone will be accompanied by Megan Shung (violin/erhu), Terre Lee (violin), Manoela Wunder (viola), Carlyn Kessler (cello), and Josh Gilgoff (percussion).
