Cast and Production Team

Tom Brault (Governor / Innkeeper)  Tom has performed in over 60 local productions (including roles at the Moonlight, SDMT, MiraCosta, etc.)  At the Brooks, through the years he has played a kindly judge, Kris Kringle, and most recently the Ghost of Christmas Present. Playing the Governor / Innkeeper has been a real treat. Tom’s favorite role, though, is as real-life husband and father. Love and many thanks to his talented and supportive family: Linda, Gerilyn and Robyn.

Timothy Cabal (Pedro)  Timothy is very humbled to come back on the OTC stage! For Region 8 of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival he has earned the Voice and Speech Trainers Association Award as well as been a finalist for the Irene Ryan Scholarship. Some of his favorite credits include: Miss Bennet: Christmas…(New Village Arts), In the Heights (Patio Playhouse), Barefoot In the Park (OTC), and Urinetown (MiraCosta College).  Doctrine and Covenants 18:10. @timcabal

Jonah Duhe (Muleteer)  Recent Film Credits: Bo in HR805, Johnathan in Rubato. Recent Theatre Credits: Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Spike in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Tarzan in Tarzan the Musical, Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables. Other credits include: Macbeth, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Matt Gonzalez (Muleteer) Matt is thrilled to to be in this production because it is not only his OTC debut, but also his first musical production since graduating from Carlsbad High School in June of 2018. Previous theater credits include: Lone Star, The Dining Room, 9 to 5: The Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Ghost: The Musical.

Jack Grable (Anselmo)  Jack is thrilled to be a part of this production in his first non-educational outing! A nominee for the Irene Ryan Scholarship at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region 8, Jack has recently been accepted to UC Santa Barbara and plans to audition for their BFA program and double major too! Some favorite credits include: The 25th Annual…, Pirates of Penzance, School for Scandal, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream all at MiraCosta College.

Bob Himlin (Padre, ensemble) Thrilled to be making his OTC debut, Bob is no stranger to the Brooks, having played Zach in “A Chorus Line” here in ’01. Welk Resort: Spamalot (Arthur), The Producers (Roger DeBris); Moonlight: All Shook Up (Sheriff Earl). Other San Diego credits: Catch Me If You Can (Frank Sr.), Beauty and the Beast (Gaston), Children of Eden (Father), South Pacific (Emile DeBecque), Into the Woods (Baker),The Music Man (Harold Hill), Guys and Dolls (Sky), 110 in the Shade (Starbuck). Steven Jensen (Ensemble, Captain)  OTC debut. He appeared in eight operettas at Lyric Opera San Diego, including The Gondoliers, The Mikado, and Candide, and in eighteen plays at Coronado Playhouse, including King Charles III, Hamlet, Spamalot, Tartuffe, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Drowsy Chaperone. Shows elsewhere include Edward II (Diversionary), The Tempest (Poor Players), Macbeth and Who Am I This Time? (Vanguard), She Loves Me (Lamplighters), and  Julius Caesar (New Village Arts).

Steve Lawrence (Sancho Panza)  Steve is thrilled to be making his debut at OTC.  An English/Spanish bilingual actor, Steve was recently seen in the West Coast premiere of a Spanish language production of Man of La Mancha at the BFA Theatre in Los Angeles.  Favorite local theatre credits include She Loves Me (Scripps Ranch Theatre), Grease and Pump Boys and Dinettes (Moonlight Stage Productions).  Television credits: Gilmore Girls.

Taylor Magee (Antonia) Taylor is happy to be working alongside such a talented cast and creative team at OTC. Her most recent roles include Maggie Winslow in A Chorus Line, Amalia Balash in She Loves Me, and Belle in Beauty and the Beast. She performs year round at LEGOLAND Theme Park and Resort, and is an EMC actress represented by Crown North Talent Agency. She would like to thank her friends and family for their support.

Rudy Martinez (Cervantes / Quixote)  Rudy’s theatre credits include Che in Evita, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, The Baker in Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd, El Gallo in The Fantasticks, The Balladeer in Assassins, Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Valentin in Kiss of the Spider Woman and Kevin in In the Heights. Rudy lives in Queens, NYC, is the creative force behind custom cake company Man Bakes Cake and was the winner of Food Network’s Halloween Baking Championship.

Steven Pappas (Barber, ensemble) Steven has been involved with several theatre companies and some of his favorite roles include Felix in The Game’s Afoot, Oscar in The Odd Couple, Leo/Maxine in Leading Ladies, Vice Principal Panch in Spelling Bee, Smee in Peter Pan, Raul in Extremities, Nick in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and Agwé in Once on this Island. He would like to thank OTC and everyone involved in this amazing production of The Man of La Mancha!

Olivia Pence (Housekeeper, ensemble)  Olivia is thrilled to make her OTC debut! A recent graduate of Cal State Fullerton, Olivia’s favorite performances include Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Maria Josepha (Bernarda Alba), and Hatchet Face (Cry Baby: The Musical). Olivia also recently produced a cabaret performance entitled “Liv Your Dreams!” Olivia would like to thank Ted Leib for bringing her along on this journey. Olivia also thanks her amazing support system! Enjoy the show!

Tara Sampson (Aldonza) is thrilled to be making her OTC debut. Previous credits include Ilona in She Loves Me (Scripps Ranch Theater), Daphne in Fly By Night (Coronado Playhouse), Shelley in Bat Boy (Ocean Beach Playhouse), Woman #2 in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Ocean Beach Playhouse). Tara would like to thank her husband and mother for their constant love and support.

Kaleb Scott (The Duke / Dr. Carrasco / Knight of the Mirrors)  Kaleb is excited for his debut production at OTC.  Singer, actor, dancer and choreographer seen internationally.  Cygnet Theatre, SDMT, Starlight, OB Playhouse, etc.  Spamalot (Sir Robin), Jesus Christ Superstar (Pontius Pilate), The Wiz (Scarecrow), Brigadoon (Charlie), Bye Bye Birdie (Hugo), The Boy Friend (Bobby), La Cage Aux Folles (Monique), 7 Brides … (Benjamin), The Producers (Scott, Donald), Oliver! (Oliver), 9 to 5White ChristmasCall Me Madam, Annie Get Your Gun, South Pacific, Show Boat, Anything Goes, Fiddler …, 42nd St., Peter Pan, My One and Only, Me and My Gal, Singing in the Rain, Carousel, Where’s Charley?, How To Succeed …, Mary Poppins, Evita, etcThank you to all involved!  Big Love!

Eden Young (Fermina)  Eden is thrilled to be on stage for the second time at Oceanside Theatre Company. She previously assistant stage managed as well as understudied Madge and Millie in Picnic. You may have also seen her as ensemble/ tango dancer in She Loves Me at Scripps Ranch Theatre, A Mute in The Fantasticks at Scripps Ranch Theatre and Elle’s mom in Moonlight Youth Theatre’s Legally Blonde.

Production Team

Ted Leib (Director, Sound and Projection Designer) San Diego directing credits include The Fantasticks and The Dark at the Top of the Stairs for SRT, and Same Time Next YearPicnicBoeing Boeing and The Musical of Musicals for Oceanside Theatre Company. Previously, in Orange County: Pirates of Penzance (STAGES theatre); Bug (Hunger Artists); Bus Stop (Vanguard); Forever Plaid and The 12 Plays of Christmas (Orange County Pavilion). Ted’s sound-design credits include eight shows for SRT and six for Oceanside Theatre Company, plus Spelling Bee for Intrepid Theatre Company. As an actor Ted has appeared in over 30 stage productions in San Diego and Orange Counties. He serves currently as artistic director for Oceanside Theatre Company.

Katie Banville (Choreographer / Assistant Director) is thrilled to be working with OTC. Recent creative credits: co-directing/choreographing Freaky Friday at San Diego Musical Theatre, choreographing Spamalot at Cygnet Theatre (Craig Noel nomination), and choreographing the world premiere of Tarrytown at Backyard Renaissance. Recent performance credits: The Heart of Rock and Roll and Benny and Joon at The Old Globe, and Freaky Friday and Escape to Margaritaville at La Jolla Playhouse. MFA Musical Theatre, San Diego State University; BFA Music Theatre, Illinois Wesleyan University.

Lyndon Pugeda (Musical Director) is excited to be making his debut with Oceanside Theatre Company! His work around Southern California, on both the professional and educational level, has received much recognition, including a Craig Noel Award nomination and two National Youth Arts awards for Outstanding Musical Direction. Credits include: The Lorax, Picasso at the Lapin Agile (The Old Globe); Mamma Mia!, Aida, Sister Act, All Shook Up, Spamalot (Moonlight Stage Productions); Gutenberg! The Musical! (Backyard Renaissance); Tell Me On A Sunday (Vista’s Broadway Theater); Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings (New Village Arts); American Idiot (Riverside City College). He earned his B.A. degree in Music: Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts from UC San Diego.

Charmaine Reed (Stage Manager) just finished as stage manager for Dancing Lessons at OTC and SRT. She has served as production stage manager for The Roustabouts Theatre Company for their first two seasons.  Other credits include PSM for the Playwrights Project Young Playwright’s Festival 2017/2018 at The Old Globe Theatre.  Favorite SM credits include; Vanya and Masha and Sonia and Spike (SRT), Amazons and Their Men (Diversionary): Intern, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (The Old Globe Theatre).

Emily Sperling (Props / Stage Combat Coordinator) Emily enjoys pointy things and showing people how to use them. It is always a unique challenge to translate fight techniques into artistic but believable movement. But such is life, balancing perspective with action. Although balancing in general can be ridiculously hard.

Paul Durso (Sound mixer) is a composer, musician, and audio engineer. Composition credits include original scores for Eurydice, Sense And Sensibility, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and These Shining Lives. A1 credits for musical theatre include Disney’s Freaky Friday (SDMT) and She Loves Me (SRT). Outside of the theatre, he writes poetry and plays, paints, studies various Eastern and Western religious and esoteric traditions, and likes to go on boats at theme parks.

Roslyn Lehman and Renetta Lloyd (Costume Designer) ROSLYN LEHMAN began costuming when her kids entered the theatre world in 1993. Now, one of those kids, RENETTA LLOYD, and she work, and have worked, as costumers for many local theatres, including Moonlight Stage Productions, Mira Costa College, Scripps Ranch Theatre, Premiere Productions, North Coast Rep, and, of course, Oceanside Theatre Company! Renetta also creates one-of-a-kind costumes for cosplay and special occasions. Check her out on Instagram @natty.lou.creations .

N. Dixon Fish (Set Designer) is a teacher, artist and scenic designer/painter. His theatre credits include San Diego Junior Theater, Starlight, Welk Theatre, MiraCosta Theatre, The Avo and Moonlight theatres, and Scripps Ranch Theatre, where his last design for was She Loves Me.

Estefania Vazquez (Set Construction & Painting) Estefania was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. In 2015,she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Product Design from UASLP.  She worked at Promadera Residential Carpentry as a production and project area manager. She has designed sets for TRES60 Musical Theatre Company. She moved to Escondido, California in 2017 and began working as a Stage Technician at Moonlight Stage Productions. She works as Set Designer and builder for Pacific Lyric Associaton.

Kristin Drum (Lighting Designer) is a Southern California-based lighting designer with a passion for telling great stories through painting worlds with light. She has had the pleasure of working with companies such as South Coast Repertory, The Santa Fe Opera, Great River Shakespeare Festival, and The Chautauqua Theatre Company. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2015 with her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Lighting Design.
