Spring Awakening – Opening Night


OTC presents Spring Awakening August 29 to September 14, bringing the raw energy of this groundbreaking rock musical to the Brooks Theater stage. Directed by Oceanside native Gerilyn Brault, the Tony Award-winning production follows young people in 1890s Germany grappling with their emerging identities, desires, and the oppressive forces around them.

With its electrifying fusion of rock music and emotional intensity, Spring Awakening explores themes of sexuality, rebellion, and self-discovery, delivering a poignant and thought-provoking reflection on the challenges of adolescence.

Opening Night reception begins at 7 pm and includes light refreshments. Enjoy a champagne toast with the cast after the show.

He Hawaiʻi Mau; Being Hawaiian, Wherever We Are


Join us for an enriching evening celebrating the experiences of Native Hawaiians living in diaspora. This event features a panel discussion with Native Hawaiians from various backgrounds, who will share their insights on cultural preservation, connection to ʻāina (land), and evolving identity across generations. The evening will also include cultural performances by local organizations, showcasing traditional Hawaiian hula and music that reflect the enduring spirit of Hawaiian culture. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore how Hawaiians in diaspora maintain their cultural ties while fostering a sense of community and belonging, no matter where life takes them.

Artist Open House: By Land & By Sea


Discover the beauty of the natural world at By Land & By Sea, an Artist Open House on January 10, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at the Brooks Theater Gallery. This stunning exhibit showcases landscapes and seascapes that have inspired, delighted, and impressed artists from all corners of the globe. Meet the creators and gain insight into how these breathtaking natural sights have shaped their artistry. Enjoy light refreshments, ambient music, watch a guest artist create a piece live, and mingle with artists, families, locals, and art lovers. All are welcome.

Winter Adult Tap Workshop

 


Have you always wanted to tap dance? In our Tap Workshop, taught by Lindy Lyon, we will work on the fundamentals of tap dance in the feet and in the body. Each week, students will build on the skills learned the previous week as we broaden our step vocabulary. Students will also learn about major figures and influences in tap dance history. Students will hone their tap skills with an emphasis on musicality, technique, and playfulness as they learn a dance. The Adult Tap Workshop is a great opportunity for beginners and returning tap dancers alike.

Class Session: Jan. 7th, 2025 – Feb. 11th, 2025, every Tuesday, 9:30 am – 11:00 am
$110 for six sessions minimum 8 students, 12 maximum
