Laughing Nerd New Year’s Eve


Ring in the New Year with a night of laughs and geeky fun at our sober, nerd-themed comedy show! Hosted by scientist-turned-comedian Tim X Lee, the evening kicks off with his unique brand of intellectual humor and quirky energy. Headlining the event is the brilliantly witty James P. Connolly, whose clever, sharp humor spans everything from tech to pop culture. Whether you’re a fan of sci-fi, gaming, or just appreciate smart comedy, Connolly and Lee together deliver an unforgettable New Year’s Eve filled with hilarious insights and clever punchlines. This comedy event offers a refreshingly different way to celebrate the holiday—one focused on fun, laughs, and community in a laid-back, alcohol-free atmosphere.

Artist Open House: SPIRITED


Embrace the winter season at the SPIRITED Artist Open House on Friday, December 6, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at the Brooks Theater Gallery. Presented in collaboration with Oceanside Museum of Art’s Artist Alliance, this exhibit captures the winter spirit in all its forms—from festive holiday scenes to abstract expressions of warmth, joy, and nostalgia. Enjoy light refreshments, ambient music, watch a guest artist creating live, and mingle with artists, families, locals, and art lovers.

The Addams Family

Oceanside Theatre Company Youth Academy presents The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Artist Open House: One Step…Beyond – from Aliens to ESP


This exhibition is the visual partner to OTC’s season production of Stranger Sings!, a parody of the TV show Stranger Things. Imaginations go wild as the Gallery explores all things science fiction! The Artist Open House on Saturday, October 12th from 5:30 pm – 8 pm will offer light refreshments, a guest artist working on a current piece, a create your own alien souvenir, and over 40 pieces of out of this world art!

The Hill Street Country Club presents Joy Guidry Amen Tour

Join The Hill Street Country Club for an unforgettable evening with renowned bassoonist and composer Joy Guidry as they perform selections from their critically acclaimed album AMEN at OTC. Known for their innovative approach to blending genres, Joy’s work delves into the rich musical traditions of southern Black American music, weaving together elements of jazz, gospel, and ambient soundscapes. This performance promises to be a transformative journey of sound, honoring both the past and future of Black musical expression.

Improv Comedy Halloween Spooktacular – a Project Athena Foundation Fundraiser

 


Join us for a frightfully fun evening of improv comedy as Improv at the Brooks presents its annual Halloween Spooktacular. North County Improv Squad (NCIS) will give you a night full of high-energy laughs as they perform games rarely seen on stage, plus a special improvised spooky story. This year’s Spooktacular will benefit Project Athena Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to helping survivors of major medical setbacks live out their adventurous dreams. It is a fun, silly night not to be missed!

Generally PG-13, but the performers will adapt if kids present.

Other Awareness Project


The Other Awareness Project (OAP) is a 95% guilt and anger free, thought-provoking, humorous mixture of film documentary, stand-up comedy, and audience discussion that looks into what Michael James Brown thinks is the continued incorrect categorization of people into “racial” groups.

Following the discussion, enjoy a showcase of cultural short form content, including music videos and documentaries, that highlight diverse voices and stories.

Improv Level 3: Dive Deeper into Improv


Continue your improv journey by learning advanced tools and techniques to captivate both yourself and audiences with the worlds you craft onstage. From exploring diverse improv forms to developing skills needed for seamless teamwork, this class will elevate your improv to new heights. Dive deeper into the art of improvisation and create genuine moments of connection and laughter. Students will perform in a class show upon completion of the course. [prerequisite: Must have completed at least 2 levels of an improv program at any theater. Instructed by Chris Shurland.
