In a comical retelling of âThe Princess and the Pea,â a far-away kingdom struggles against a marriage ban by the overbearing Queen Aggravain. Everyone is forbidden to marry until her grown-ish son, Prince Dauntless, marries a suitable princess. She also happens to reject every eligible princess through a series of elaborate royalty tests, leaving the kingdomâs residents romantically frustrated. Lady Larken soon convinces her knight and beau, Sir Harry, to venture out in search of a royal bachelorette for Dauntless so the couple can wed. Sir Harry returns with Princess Winnifred the Woebegone, a noblewoman of the swamp whose freewheeling displays of strength clash with the Queenâs image of feminine propriety. Winnifred instantly catches the attention of Prince Dauntless. Meanwhile, the Queen devises another elaborate royalty test â the one with 20 downy mattresses and one lousy pea â to stop Winnifred and DauntLess from being together. The townspeople dare to uncover the test before yet another match is doomed, and Winnifred is able to pass the Queenâs supposedly impassable sensitivity test. Mary Rodgerâs classic Once Upon a Mattress is a hilarious musical that is sure to delight the entire family!

âOh, the thinks you can thinkâ when Dr. Seussâ best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination â Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many âthinks.â Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. Seussical is fun for the whole family!
