Hidden Moments: An Evening of Innovative Improv

Experience an evening of live, improvised theater with two bold new works in OTC’s Studio 219. These performances go beyond quick laughs, offering slice-of-life moments that explore the full range of human experience.

The night opens with CrossRoads, an improvised story uncovering the hidden connections between strangers in a single place. Then comes Terminal—a high-stakes journey that begins in tragedy and unfolds into something both cathartic and unexpectedly hilarious. Please note: Terminal covers some topics that touch on deeper emotional themes, ranging from sorrow to joy.

Together, these shows push beyond traditional improv, blending raw emotion with sharp humor to reveal powerful human stories—created entirely in the moment.

Resonance Collaborative Open Mic

Resonance is a free, all-ages event hosted by St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church and Oceanside Theatre Company, that builds community through creative expression. It’s a space for all creatively-inclined people — artists, musicians, writers, and more — to showcase their work and to practice spontaneous creation together.

It’s not quite an open mic, jam session, drum circle, or art night — but it has elements of all of these. And everyone who comes is welcome to participate as much or as little as they choose. If you’d prefer to just come and enjoy the vibe and performances, you are welcome to do that too.

The California Surf Museum presents The Shape of Things: The Dick Brewer Story, with special guests Jeff Hakman, Jericho Poppler, Alan Sarlo and Gary Linden, and Director Bob Campi, all who appear in the film.

This documentary chronicles the colorful and controversial legendary surfboard designer Dick Brewer. Arguably the most influential surfboard shaper of the 1960s and 1970s, Dick Brewer has often been called the father of the modern-day surfboard. He changed the design of surfing equipment not once, not twice, but three times in his 50-year career as a trailblazer, with all the notorious tales that have until now remained just rumored legends.

Directed and edited with the skill of a lifelong cinematographer Bob Campi, this biopic captures the rise, fall, and ultimate redemption of visionary who changed the world of surfing forever, a trailblazer throughout his career. The filmmakers tell his story with phenomenal cinematography and archival footage coupled with a retro soundtrack, that will take you back to the era where surfers and board designers redefined what riding a wave could be.

Director: Bob Campi
Screenwriter: Jim Kempton (Executive Director, California Surf Museum)
Producer(s): Teresa Tico, Allen Sarlo, Steve Morgan
