Foxfire

October 11-27, 2019

By Hume Cronyn and Susan Cooper
Music by Jonathan Brielle

Foxfire takes place on a small farm in Southern Appalachia threatened by hard times and creeping real estate development. But it is really about the strength of family, the burnished love of a long marriage and the values that have sustained this nation. It is laced with knee slapping, soul stirring music.

Foxfire is a co-production with Scripps Ranch Theatre

Sweet Charity

March 6-29, 2020
Book by Neil Simon
Music by Cy Coleman
Lyrics by Dorothy Fields

Note: Sweet Charity was suspended after three performances due to the pandemic and ultimately canceled.

Inspired by Federico Fellini’s Nights of Cabiria, this tuneful show explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic but comically unfortunate dance hall hostess in New York City. With a score by Cy Coleman, sparkling lyrics by Dorothy Fields, and a hilarious book by Neil Simon, Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak of Life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist.  Musical numbers include: “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This,” “I’m a Brass Band” and “Baby, Dream Your Dream.”

Good People

May 15-31, 2020
Written by David Lyndsay-Abaire

Note: Good People was canceled due to the pandemic.

Welcome to Southie, a Boston neighborhood where a night on the town means a few rounds of bingo, where this month’s paycheck covers last month’s bills, and where Margie Walsh has just been let go from yet another job. Facing eviction and scrambling to catch a break, Margie thinks an old fling who’s made it out of Southie might be her ticket to a fresh new start. With his signature humorous glow, David Lindsay-Abaire explores the struggles, shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that come with having next to nothing in America.
